Glastonbury 2011 line-up to be announced at the end of April

Emily Eavis has said on Twitter that the Glastonbury 2011 line-up will be be announced at the end of April.

“Leeds fest lineup was predictably unexciting, V and glasto are duking it out now, let’s see what @emilyeavis pulls out the bag midapril”

Emily said

“End of April, we’ll be there!”

Emily has also revealed that the date of the much anticipated ticket resale will be announced later today.

Volunteer to work as bar staff at Glastonbury with EJF

The Environmental Justice Foundation are looking for volunteers to supervise, manage and work the Avalon bars at this summer’s Glastonbury Festival.

To be eligible, you must be at least 18 years old, have previous bar experience, and be prepared to work three eight hour shifts over five days (22nd-26th June).

In return, you will get:

  • A ticket or wristband to the event and an exclusive secure volunteers camping area;
  • Clean toilets serviced daily;
  • Exclusive bar area with subsidised drinks;
  • Breakfast and dinner meal ticket (£8 per day);
  • 24 hour camping security to prevent any unauthorised access to the private camping area;
  • Free coaches made available from main pick up points (i.e. London);
  • A safe working environment, full training and Health & Safety briefings.

The Wombats self confirm for Glastonbury

The Wombats have confirmed that they will be playing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

Lead vocalist Matthew Murphy, stated in a video interview that the Liverpudlian band will be playing Glastonbury,V Festival, Rockness, Wakestock and Lovebox this summer.

4 Poofs and a Piano booked for Glastonbury

4 Poofs and a Piano will be performing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

It was revealed in an interview of band member Ian Parkin by the Sheffield Telegraph, that the gay quartet, who rose to fame as the house band on The Jonathan Ross show will be touring the UK, and appearing at Glastonbury and the Edinburgh Festival this summer.

This is the idea of the tour which runs until late April and then the group will be performing at Glastonbury and then the Edinburgh Festival in the summer.

340 bar staff wanted to work at Glastonbury by Shelter

Housing charity Shelter are looking for 340 bar staff and 30 managers to work behind bars at this summer’s Glastonbury Festival.

To be eligible, you will need to be at least 18 years old by the beginning of the festival and willing to work three shifts of eight hours each during the festival. No previous bar experience is necessary.

In return, you will get

  • A ticket or wristband to the event and a secure Avalon volunteers camping area
  • Clean toilets, showers and washing facilities serviced daily
  • Exclusive Avalon bar area with subsidised drinks
  • Free coaches from pick-up points across the country
  • A safe working environment, full training and Health and Safety briefings.

Oxfam Glastonbury Festival stewarding applications now open

Oxfam opened applications to steward at Glastonbury and twelve other UK festivals today.

To volunteer, you must be prepared to work 3 x 8¼ hour shifts before or during the festival. In return, you will be provided with secure camping, toilets, showers, a meal ticket per shift and full training.

To be eligible to volunteer to steward at Glastonbury and the other festivals, you must

  • Attend training every four years
  • Provide a reference
  • Apply online and pay a deposit
  • Attend the festival(s) for the full onsite dates
  • Be eligible to volunteer in the UK
  • Be 18 or over on the arrival day of the festival (there is no upper age limit!)
  • Adhere to Oxfam’s standards of behaviour

Other festivals that Oxfam will be supplying stewards for this summer are RockNess, Download, Latitude, WOMAD, Camp Bestival, Kendal Calling, Big Chill, Beautiful Day, Shambala, Reading, Leeds and Bestival.

Two Door Cinema Club to play Glastonbury

Two Door Cinema Club will be playing at this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

The Northern Irish trio are booked to play the Pyramid Stage on Friday 24th June, the same day as U2 and Elbow according to NME.
