Neil Young will be the third headline act at this year’s festival. His inclusion in the line-up for 2009 as a “dream come true” said Michael Eavis.

Making official the rumours that the Canadian musician would be playing Glasto 2009 this summer, Glastonbury festival organiser and founder Eavis said: “Neil Young to play this year is a dream come true for me personally. He is one of my all-time favourites and we have always wanted him to play.”

Neil Young completes the trio of headliners alongside Bruce Springsteen and Blur. “With Neil on the bill we are close to completing our best ever line-up,” Eavis added.

It is Young’s appearance that has caused the most excitement and speculation among Glasto goers, with Eavis saying: “We give it a go and every year people come to the festival and ask the same question: When is Neil Young playing? So this is big news for us. I’ve seen him play many times over the years but I think he’s better than ever at the moment, it’s one hell of a show.”
