Michael Eavis and BBC presenter Bill Turnbull graduated from Bucks New University today.

Glastonbury founder Eavis was awarded an honorary degree in recognition of his contribution to the music industry.

The 73-year-old dairy farmer has been working with the uni to develop its music and festival management degrees.

He said: “I’m extremely flattered and proud to have been awarded the degree.

“I’ve spent the last 40 years running my diary farm – which ended up becoming the world’s biggest festival and I’m proud to say we’re still going strong – we still have cows on the very field of the festival.

“I’ve paid several visits to Bucks New Uni and watched it develop over the past months, and it’s something I’ve enjoyed coming along to do.

“The students always ask good questions and seem to listen – probably because I’m not some councillor and they actually want to listen to what I say.”
