Depeche Mode have denied rumours that they have been booked to play at Glastonbury 2009.
Keyboardist Andy Fletcher cleared up internet claims that the band will be playing during an interview with Kerrang! Radio’s Emma Scott. “That is a rumour and it’s not true.” Says Fletcher. “Unless our management is going behind our backs, as far as we’re concerned that is definitely not on.”
Fletcher also said that Depeche Mode will be touring “until February” 2010 – despite the band previously saing that their ‘World Tour of the Universe 2009′ would only run until September.
Scott asked if their schedule had been expanded, to which Andy Fletcher replied: “I’ve given it away, you’re going to get me in trouble now. My manager’s going to come down on me heavy!”
“It’s likely that we will be doing quite a few more dates – maybe Birmingham. It would be nice to put our feet up after September but the fans are just going crazy, we might have to extend it. There could be riots!”
