Competition for unsigned acts to join Glastonbury 2010 line-up begins

The annual competition for unsigned bands to play Glastonbury 2010 has begun.

Rockstar 09 will also decide which three acts will support Dizzee Rascal and Florence and the Machine at the Pilton Party on 4th September.

The competing acts have been selected from hundreds of entries from all over the UK. The first weekend of heats took place on 31st July and 1st August, where Higher Love, The Alex Dingley Band, The Furbelows, The Caper Story, Daybreakers,  In Darklight, Lemanis, The Rags, Simon Scardanelli and Sister Ray all performed.

The final two heats will take place at Pilton Working Men’s Club on Friday 14th and Saturday 15th August.

So far, My First Tooth, Freaky Sheep, Zalinski, The John E Vistic Experience, Lilies On Mars, The Planets and Roxy’s Wardrobe and  are set to play on the Friday, while Breaking the Illusion, Double Handsome Dragons, David Migden and the Dirty Words, Hanjiro, Onions, Strangefruit and Team Modeliste will play on Saturday.

Everyone from the local area is welcome to attend  the heats for free – arrival before 7pm is recommended.

The winners will be the first acts officially named as playing Glasto 2010.
