More than 200,000 votes have already been cast ahead of the awards ceremony at London’s Indigo2 venue on 30th October 2008.
In the major festival category, Glastonbury, Reading, Leeds and T in the Park will all be hoping to beat last year’s winner The Isle Of Wight Festival.
In the artist categories, Muse, Kings Of Leon, The Verve, Metallica and Rage Against The Machine fill the top five slots in the best headliner category, while Duffy, MGMT and The Ting Tings pick up two nods.
Run by Virtual Festivals.com, the awards have grown each year and 2008 will mark a full dinner and ceremony type set up, while Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy will benefit from funds raised on the night.
Virtual Festivals CEO Steve Jenner told us, “Given that it’s been the most talked-about year for festivals ever, it hasn’t surprised us that this year has seen by far the most frenetic, intense and furious voting activity in the UK Festival Awards’ history. Whilst many of the results have been as one would expect, it looks like there could well be one or two very big surprises in the final votes, too.”
