The Left Field tent at Glasto – a fixture at the Festival since 2002 – is to be discontinued.

Seamus McBride the President of Battersea and Wandsworth TUC who have been responsible for the tent made the announcement at the London premiere of “Glastonbury Left Field 2008 – The Movie”.

A spokesman for Glastonbury Festival said “Glastonbury Festival is constantly evolving. Although the Left Field area will not be happening next year in its current format, Glastonbury always likes to spring surprises, so at this point we can’t confirm exactly what new element and areas will make up the 2009 Festival. We will be making announcements about new attractions in the new year.”

Geoff Martin, the man who has been responsible for running the tent at Glastonbury stated: “the Left Field idea, blending popular culture with social justice campaigning, will live on whatever happens.”
